THE TWO WONDERS
We (GBL Alumni + Friends) decided to go to Legazpi for the long weekend despite the 12 hour drive, Typhoon Mina’s wrath and bad weather forecasts. Our mission: to capture Mayon Volcano the way it hasn’t been captured before.
On our first 2 days Mayon Volcano was heavily covered with clouds but we were blessed with bright sunlight giving us the opportunity to shoot sunrise, IR and sunsets but no clear shot of Mt. Mayon’s beauty.
Just when I was contemplating when I’ll be going back home, Mayon cleared up right after an uneventful sunset. We decided to stay for another day to give Mayon and ourselves another shot.
While waiting for dinner, I tried to shoot the dock on our hotel. After 1 test exposure I saw the Milky Way showing its glorious light in the sky, I called my friends and we hurriedly packed our gear and went to a vantage point where there is a clear view of the volcano and voila there it is, Mayon volcano with a crater Glow and Milky Way in one shot.
